Bamboo. Did you Know That ... ?

Did you Know That Bamboo survived the Hiroshima atomic bombing and re-greened the same year?

Did you Know That Bamboo is considered to be a grass but not a tree?

Thus bamboo is the highest and strongest grass in the world!

Did You Know That Some Bamboo can grow 18 inches per day and reach a height of 100 feet?

Bamboo is one of the most amazing plants on Earth - beautiful, strong and mysterious.

In Chinese bamboo means reincarnation due to the fact that when it flowers the plant dies. Yet like Phoenix it leaves seeds in the soil and revives - some day. Some types of bamboo start growing again in 100 years!!!

But the most amazing thing about bamboo is its mystery - mass flowering.

All plants in a grove will flower simultaneously, regardless of climate, weather or location. This was and is a true tough nut for scientists.

'This mass flowering is likely connected with the way in which bamboo spreads both in the wild and in human cultivation. This method essentially creates clone plants, as the genotype is identical to the domain plant.

Timing is likely programmed into the plants genetic structure, causing all plants to flower within the exact same timeframe. ' - www.completebamboo.com .
